West square tunnel

At the head of Lombok, a new square will be constructed at the location of the present West Square traffic junction. The present traffic junction will disappear. As a result of through traffic going underground, this will become a pleasant and lively square serving as a gateway to the Lombok district. A meeting place where children can play and people live, work and can do their shopping. The square will form the link between the Kanaalstraat and the pedestrian connection along the Leidsche Rijn towards the ‘old city’. The tunnel starts at the Graadt van Roggeweg. The other end of the tunnel will be at the junction of the Vleutenseweg and the Daalse tunnel. The tunnel will have two lanes in each direction.
